Florence Welch has my heart

I’m going to start something a little different on my website. Rather than just announcements and such, I’ll make this a blogging space too. My inaugural blog post is about Florence + the Machine‘s Florence Welch (here’s a quick profile I made about her early this year: http://www.examiner.com/alternative-music-in-national/alternative-music-spotlight-florence-and-the-machine). Besides being gorgeous and stylish in her own way, she’s also a great singer and songwriter. Her powerhouse voice makes me wonder if there is such a thing as vocal steroids. How does she never lose her voice?!

Her new album Ceremonials will be released November 1st, which I’m quite giddy about. Hopefully I’ll have another chance to see her live. She has quite the presence onstage in her dramatic, flowing clothes (that are often more like costumes).

Anyway, enjoy the lovely Florence.

My artwork at a museum? Sounds good!

I’m really excited about this. My photograph Shining Bright (shown below) is going to be on display at the Arlington Museum of Art’s Community Art Showcase October 5- November 13. From what I’ve seen, there’s definitely enormous talent in this exhibition. It’s for local artists, so come by and have a look at the wonderful artwork made by people in DFW!

Short story on Yahoo

Yahoo has published a short story I wrote called Dorm of Doom: A Short Tale of College. It’s mostly a comedy, which is odd for me to write since I don’t usually read humorous stories. I might be doing something similar to this in the future, and hopefully I’ll be writing more for Yahoo as well.

I’m excited to be expanding into literature, and this will definitely prepare me for the screenwriting classes I’ll be taking. Like most people, I’ve written stories before, but I’ve never published any of them online before.

As always, critiques are welcome!
